Main > Prayer

If you are a believer in Christ there is no way you can say that prayer is not one of the most important aspect of continuing your relationship with Christ. All throughout the Bible in the Old and New Testaments we see prayer, even in the Deuteronomical Text if your a Catholic you see prayer as a HUGE aspect in their lives.

Question: How do we speak to God?

Answer: Through Prayer, it is our communication to God.

What we want to do is we want to pray for you, we want to pray with you. If you struggle let us pray. In James 5:13-18 it says, and I quote from the New American Standard Bible (NASB for short).

"Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit."

We can notice and learn a few things about prayer from this passage:

  • If you are suffering, physical suffering, spiritual, emotional, financial, any kind of suffering then you need to Pray to God.
  • If you are sick then have other Pray over you, confess your sins and allow them to Pray over you and you will be forgiven.
  • Ask someone how they are doing and if they give you an honest answer such as "Oh man, I am struggling with work right now I am so busy." take that moment to offer a word of Prayer. Put your hand on their shoulder and lift up a Prayer to God.
  • The Prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much, is your heart pure about this Prayer or is it a worldly desire, that is something that needs to be thought of first.
  • Look at the example of Elijah, Prayer is not something that happens right away always, sometimes it is but sometimes you need to Pray, check outside look for that rain cloud, if you don't see one in the sky then drop back to your knees and start praying again. Keep in Prayer
